I would love to hear tips from other solos as to how they have used hoooks, storage boxes or whatever to maximise storage space in a Toyota hi ace. Thanks

Disclaimer that I am only a solo, when travelling on my own

I have seen backpackers make a very el-cheapo wood frame, and fill it with about six 30 litre or so, rectangle plastic containers with lids

I believe that the containers are about $8 each or so from Bunnings

If you are happy to have a permanent  single bed it opens up the possibility of large drawers with front & rear access built into bed frame which will hold your outdoor stuff as well as maximum cupboard storage which could hold up to 6 large plastic containers.

Drifta can do this at a reasonable cost

Home made hammock slung front to back up high seems a great place to throw light bulky items.

I had the Pop Top Hi-Ace. with bed in roof.
Slide slats back for daytime. Full double bed at night.
Gave full interior and net pockets all round inside roof space to pack more crap.
ALL my clothing lived up there.

I converted miy Pop-top to a 3 quarter bed, and bought some Plastic Drawers, to fit down one side.  [16 Drawers.]

I made Flat Elastic Straps to stop the Drawers from sliding out.

I used plastic crates on the floor to store things when traveling and put slats in the poptop section to place the crates on when camped, freeing up floor space.

Only used mine 5 or 6 months of yr Sheba.
Lived on yacht the rest of.

Mainly fishing gear. 2 jeans. 6 shorts\jocks, t shirts. and coupla sandals.
1 pr of decent sneakers.

That good for 12 months or more comfortably.

Went round on a 600cc Dirt bike one yr.
what didn't fit in a sail bag behind my bum. Didn't go.
8x12 folded tarp over it. For camp.
