Hi baglimit2002, we have a honda 2 and it runs heron air conditioner in our jayco outback discovery poptop with no problems. Also runs other small draw items at same time like TV
, battery charger ect. Hope this helps you.
Some tend to Use the 2.2\3\4? kw Yamaha one instead.
Similar price. same reliability.
Much more power.
Others again use selected Chinese ones for yrs with NO problems
Me for one,
After changing up from a Honda Under\powered for Air cond unit.
(Did have for 20+ yrs for cost of 2 renewed Solenoids only.
Look around a bit. The extra $1500 plus change,
will buy quite a few useful items too.
IE Several panels, Battery. Regulator.
TOTAL Independance..
My 3.8\3.5 float runs 2 houses and My Aircond.
or 2 vans with 1 x aircond. Comfortably.
for costing of around $400 del. 6 or 7 yrs. 3 Cyclones. Never missed a beat.
Just another Alternative for some that may not know of..
The reply I got from Honda when I couldn't run our Heron
Take your van and test the Honda first
"Hello Jeff, The minimum recommended generator capacity for any Aircommand unit is 2.8Kva and the gen set should deliver the smoothest possible sine wave. There has never been a heron 2.2 designed specifically to run on a Honda 2. Rotary compressors as used in our air conditioners, are just like motor car engines for example. They are manufactured to a dimensional tolerance, thus some are slightly tighter than others which may account for some people being able to run a Honda 2 successfully. The risk however is that in demandingly hot weather, any gen set will lose some efficiency and the air conditioner will require a bigger kick start in the same conditions. This leaves the customer at risk of being disappointed when they need the air conditioner most. Hopefully this explains sufficiently why we recommend nothing less than a 2.8Kva gen set dedicated solely to the air conditioner with nothing else drawing from it, not even a battery charger. Should you have further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

and That's why Yammie\Kwakka, are 2.8kva.
and my Chinee is 3.5 constant.
Mine runs 2 houses when Cyclone comes through.
with us all in mine with Air Cond running.
Only problem the first time we did it.
The ONLY house in street with lights on.
Guess where ALL the fly's and insects congregated??.
For 4 1\2 days
ALL blinds closed during, thereafter.
IF you going to have one. Think about ALL possible. Sensible, uses for.
And buy to suit.
Welder would be nice. But even my Inverter one takes 6.5kva Min.
Can't have it all hey
Our Honda 2kva ran ours in the old rig no drama yet same unit on mates van his Honda nor mine would, depends I suppose, mine runs our Dometic 3000 in the current van easily, not revving the guts out...The Honda isn't really a 2kva it more like 1.8kva in the real world, just make sure the HWS is turned off, thats has fooled a lot of people.
The secret is run the genny for a few minutes to get things going, set your AC on low fan and don't turn the dial all the way to freeze, turn it on then let it all fire up and run for a little bit before turning the dial to cooler, do it in steps allowing everything to settle in before turning it a bit more and increasing the fan speed, then your not slamming your genny hard right from the start, that applies to any genny really.

Checking out the places I drove past a thousand times................
Mine runs van and Aircond. on ECO. Also 2 x houses on ECO. Just turn off eco for Air Cond. 8.2. Ticks over nicely. 2 x 6.5vans with 1 Air cond running. ECO.
Bigger units are better for economy and probably longer lasting. I had prev genny for near 30 yrs Honda powered. House. Yacht and caravans. But 1.8 (1.5 constant) in a normal 1 kva usage. Hence the longevity. NEVER fully loaded.
IE.
My current 3.5 constant. 6 to 7 yrs now. $400ish.
= 6yrs plus x4.
24 MIN, yrs for $2000 price Honda, Virtually Guaranteed.
and still running.
with either, more avail power. Or at much reduced loads.
MUCH better, more sensible usage of money in my eyes.
That's the way I look at it anyway.
IT IS RED. so halfway there hey. Chuckle.

And you people who run this forum consider this to be a useful post?
You are quick to delete or close posts which you consider may have a hint of conflict - I would call that discussion - but you allow and encourage this drivel.
Your forum, your money, your rules, your - eventual - loss.

Common guys. I might have a little difficult deciphering Macka's posts sometimes but thats him and we are all indivudual with various levels of vocabulary and differences in expression. No need to be nasty. You do have a choice to skip posts from membets....not that hard.
