Hi Motorcycling Grey Nomad to be

Hi,

I've been a motorcyclist all my life and look forward to hitting the road in the next few years with my motorcycle in tow.

I'm wondering whether other people do the same. I started a business making ride-on trailers that use a wind-up lift.

With a bit of luck this will finance time on the road and I'm hoping to see the country 1st hand. There are so many places I'd like to go.

So far, we've been fortunate to visit the Top end and NZ South Island. Both unbelieveable!

I'm planning to get a motorhome, not too big and use my bike to explore or go into town. Is this something people do?

Welcome to the gang Tigga, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Due to personal reasons I can't say much about the bike question sorry. I will say that I have seen bikes on small trailers behind MH's.

G'day Tigga and welcome to the forum. Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit.  I would say I have seen bikes on trailers in cities so sure it could be done ewith a motorhome.  One member has a light scooter that had a rack at the back of his motorhome (old coach), just can't remember his name at the moment.

Also a warm welcome from me, Tigga

I have seen people towing caravans with a motorbike on the back of their ute

I have seen motor homes, with a scooter on the back, largest from memory was a 150cc Piaggio Fly

I have never actually seen a motor home, towing a trailer, with a motorbike on board

Having said that, I am heading north very shortly, and will probably see hundreds of motor homes towing a trailer, with a motor bike on board

Hi Tigga

Back in January we were camped at Kulin (WA Wheatbelt) where we met a couple with a Winnebago motorhome with a motorbike AND car on the back! See the second photo on this blog post of theirs:

There are some amazing rigs out there!

Cheers, Kay

Gday Tigga
welcome to the Grey Nomads forum we hope you enjoy your time with us and out exploring the big playground.

a couple of years ago we were in Ravenshoe FNQ and a motor home had a hydrolic controlled platform on the back of the motor home that locked in place and held his motor bike
so it can certainly be done it will also help you get more people to see your question if you also put it in the General and Techies section.
