12 VOLT WATER PUMP NOT STAYING PRIMED

The 12v pressure pump in my van will not stay primed. Disconnected the pump a week ago inverted it and was able to prime it. This week switched on pump and was not primed. ANY ASSISTANCE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Been travelling full time for 11 years and this is the first time this has happened.

There is normally a little plastic non return valve somewhere in the water supply line I'm guessing your's has gone to God. it could be under the van possibly even under a saddle clip normally only a couple of dollars and so easy to replace it could almost be done by a clever dog.

It could be a number of issues. Mine was the plastic line was splitting, so had to replace it. My friends van was caused by the Gas hot water tank had a very small hole.

Just to mention two.

Hi Reho,

We had issues with our new Jayco last year. One was the hot water cheap Chinese water hoses used. When the hot water in the shower or kitchen was run the hot water would soften the plastic hose pipes and the pump would suck them closed, causing air locks. Jayco would not fix.

So I fix myself, using plumbers high pressure hose. Never failed again. Thanks again JAYCO for your Cra....p.

Hope this may help you.

Jim

Sounds like some sort of blockage somewhere. Those pumps are self priming.

Install it at tank end of line.
That gives a Horizontal run from tap to tank.
loads the pump with no vertical pressure to gravity feed it out.

Plus. Those pumps MUCH prefer to push than pull their load.
My pumps I always install just outside of tank. level (Almost) with bottom.

Water always in Horizontal outlet line to tap. and water load in tank always keeps them primed.
Simple.
Only thing you have to change,
Is wiring length from tap\sw to pump.
