Satellite Finder

Just purchased a WS 6906 finder on evil bay and was wondering if there is any nomad in Perth that could give me a practical demo on its use . I have the dish set up and running with my old finder but nothing on new finder screen. Instructions are next to useless but I don' t think I'm a dummy ! Cheers

I'm sorry Mr Glassies but I can't see how Wikicamps can help me as I said, the dish is already set up with TV working ( has been for about seven years ) I only need help with the new finder.

Hi Hawk7

Have you configured your 6906 to lock onto the Optus C1/D3 satellites? I have a 6933 that I bought from Access Antennas in Osborne Park which they had already configured for C1/D3 so I didn't have to go through that procedure. They also configured the unit to display the free-to-air Al Jazeera news service - which I believe is transmitted from D3 - once the dish is locked onto C1/D3. The 6906 and 6933 models appear to be very similar so will probably have the same set-up procedures. I'll check my 6933 for the settings required for the C1 satellite and let you know. Meanwhile, here are some old threads that might be useful:

Took the pic just before posting - maybe I've got a dodgy dish. Planning to fine tune it to see if I can get a better signal.

I've got a WS6933 and find that it's not all that sensitive.
I take 3 sat meters with me in the van and find the old micky mouse cheap analog meter to be the most sensitive and will always get a signal.
I have spent a lot of time on roofs installing KU and C band dishes and yes the old analog is the most sensitive if used correctly.

There are very good meters out there and then you get what you pay for.
