Solo and tossing up between keeping a base and making short trips or doing the big circuit.
Have an auto 2005 LandCruiser 100 TD GXL that has been the Carport Queen and has only having towed once, my tinny from the yard to the street for its new owner. Set the vehicle up for towing a van and going years ago, but life had other unexpected priorities.
Older now and might have to review and get a cheap motorhome. Or possibly I might consider a small van, who knows?
Hoping to get some ideas and frank advice. Looking forward to discussions, probably in the Solo section.
Welcome to the gang Leo, enjoy here and out in the playground.
When I became a solo after many many moons I bought a Avan Camper and found myself away from base camp 8 out of 12 months for three years so three years ago now I upgraded tug and got a full size aluminium teepee, sold base camp and now in the playground full time and loving it.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Happily doing both to the Max.
Life is like a camera, focus on what's important & you will capture it every Time
I would just like to say, welcome to the forum, Leo
I hope that whatever you decide to do, keeps you happy
Sometimes I travel on my own, and therefore know just a little of the trials and tribulations, of the solo traveller
Most times I will travel with the boss
My intake on travelling, is that if you can adapt to the situation you find yourself in, you will be happy
I did have vans many years ago and lived in one for some years. Maybe after some runs with something smaller as you did, I may be looking to perhaps a 18' max.
I don't like the thought of parting with the 2005 LandCruiser TD, being low mileage and a lovely safe drive.
However a motorhome does have benefits if travelling. Maybe I'll leave it there and come back on the forum after viewing posts.
G'day Leo and welcome to the forum. Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit. Seems to me from your comments that you can get the van and try before having to decide whether to ditch the homebase or not. Many like the 'security' of having the homebase to go back to in case of problems (health or otherwise) while others prefer the greater freedom of no ties. At the end it is a personal choice that only you can make. Suggest you get out there and start talking to the other nomads on the road (or via the forum) to get
And it's welcome from us two 2 Leo please don't sit on your hands too long it makes them go numb , lol keep you eyes on the light that's there when all is settled and you off on you great adventure .
