Hi All,

We are new to the forum but thought we would share a video of our day trip to the Bendethra Campground and caves. Bedethera is a beautiful and expansive campground west of Moruya, NSW. It is set along the Deua River and is 4wd access only. There were many camper trailers and camper vans in there but they were all short wheel base and setup for offroad. There are multiple river crossings, so be careful out there if there is rain around. I wouldn't advise trying to take a caravan in there. 

We took our two little girls for the 8km return walk to the caves. It turned in to a bit of an epic with the kids, but would be easy for adults. The caves are well worth a look, quite deep and some very nice formations.

For the more adventurous 4wders there is the Merricumbene Firetrail that traverses the ridgeline north to Araluen road. The trail starts to the left at the top of the hill as you climb out of Bendethera camp ground. This trail isn't for the faint hearted, especially as you drop down to Araluen road at the far end. I have posted a video of the day we drove this as well. Merricumbene took about 3 hours to drive.

G'day lewyjess,
Welcome to the forum & thanks for your videos that show some more nice places to visit in the country.

Could I suggest you also add an introduction to the earlier part of the forum (Rules & Introduction)? This may make you more visible to the other members.

The "Search" button is a very useful tool - for finding out all sorts of info. Most of us have problems occasionally (recently this forum gave me a solution that the dealer wouldn't). Some of us (like you) want to pass on all sorts of valuable info.

You have certainly given a good visual explanation, of your recommendation

Although I am no longer into four wheel drive/off road driving

I am sure that your videos will be interesting to some members, who are into, or thinking of going down those tracks

Enjoyed the video but I think I'll pass on taking the van down.

If you enjoy that side of 4WD'ing three Roads come to mind the Colong Oberon Stock Route Rd into Yerranderie some thrills looking down the left hand side valley going in - no safety fences. www.oberonaustralia.com.au/visitor-information/area-information/yerranderie-regional-park/

Taralga to Marulan via Brayton Rd - couple of hair pin bends on there that are thrillers.

Even the old Wombeyan Caves Rd from Wombeyan Caves up to Mittagong, can be a test at times.

These three Rds I enjoy taking overseas visitors along - It's a bit different to the Red Dust Outback - I do like driving them at night (although the chance of Kangaroo or Wombat strike is reasonably high) - you at least can see the headlights of any vehicle coming at you.

Great thanks for the info, i'll look those up. We are really enjoying the remote locations, views, rivers etc that are hidden out on these roads. The 4wd aspect is bonus.
