CF50 lid latch

You wonderful people fixed my switch issue for me I'm hoping you can do the same for the lid latch

The spring inside the handle on my CF50 disengaged itself and the latch no longer works.
I fiddled with it, got it back together and working but it failed again.

Is there a permanent fix for this or perhaps an alternative and hopefully more robust system that I can use or will have to buy a replacement latch assembly?

That's a hard one. I had the same problem, purchased a new latch but made little difference. Would be pleased to hear of a solution too.

When the latch on our 50 litre Waeco went I used a couple of elastic canopy loops (like those on utes covers) and the little buttons to fix it. Some eskies use the same things as latches.

Cheaper than a new latch, easy to drill and fit, and now been on for 3 years and no issues. I just removed all of the old latch and then fitted the loops and buttons,

The button and loop costs about $4 for both pieces, and fix takes about 5 minutes with a drill, 4 screws and a screw driver.

Try a hasp & staple.

I had a similar problem with mine as well.
It wouldn't stay closed and the spring kept coming out, so I took it to my local service agent, and it turned out the whole case was warped!
It was still under warranty luckily so they replaced it promptly.
I had it mounted in the back of my ute with canopy over, and a Waeco fridge slide.
