Soneil Advanced Battery Technology

Hello all
I just came across this by accident. Anyone have any knowledge about them?

I have asked on another forum but no response to date.

This is their web site, aside from that I've never heard of them either.

They look to be heavy bugga's, come in 2 volt cells so you need 6 of them to make a 12v battery, 6 x 100Ah cells come in just under 35kg.... wow
About the same size as LA.
Be interesting to know their pricing??

Cheers,

El Gringo where did you get the weight info from? I didn't see anything on the links, the batteries are all different dimensions so what's with the 2 volt cells?

If their sales talk is to be believed, about being nearly as good as lithium, in respect to being able to discharge down to zero, and then able to be recharged

Then the price is not too bad, in comparison to a reputable AGM battery

I wonder if we can find out, what type of charger it requires?

I notice that they have a Sydney outlet

These are not for me, as my AGM's are only about two years old, and have always been kept topped up with roof solar panel, so all things being equal, they should last a while longer

If you believe the nonsense in the advantages chart then you will believe anything  What a load of nonsense, Winston LYP and LFP (the lithium cells used for RV house battery installations) have cycle life of over 1,000 cycles to 100% DoD yet their own chart shows 680 cycles till ???? what? The LYP and LFP no longer have 100% of their advertised capacity after the 1,000 plus 100% discharges, they are not dead they just start to reduce their capacity after that, down to 80% capacity after 3,000 cycles and 70% capacity after 5,000 cycles.

That means they are not even in the running compared to lithium house battery life. Using Elgringo's and Malken posts as a guide that would be 35kg for 100Ah and means they are more than twice the weight. At $292 per cell x 6 cells x 10% GST = $1927.20 for a 12v battery. I'd be happy to sell you a 100Ah lithium battery complete with a charge control system for that sort of money biggrin and you can use all the charging gear you already have and I'd be a happy man as well

Terry the price mentioned is for a 12v battery, not just 1 cell, seems you can buy them either way.

Might they be suitable as  a longer life LA battery??

Cheers,

Ah, well that paints a different picture as far as price anyway, so $321.20 plus freight for a 100Ah 12v battery, that would make them competitive with AGM batteries at least and around 1/3 the price of the equivalent advertised capacity lithium battery. The weight and cycle life is still an issue but for those that don't have those concerns they could be a viable alternative .... so who is going to buy some and tell us if they are as good as claimed?
