Hi all, anybody aware of a reasonable priced 3 way fridge service repairer, Fridge is not working on 12 volt whilst driving, works great on 240 volt, will be testing fridge on gas today now that it has cooled down, I am in Tamworth till sat morning then outer Sydney for a week.TIA...Cheers
Sorry - I cannot help with repairers, but if it is not working on 12 Volts, it can be either the power supply or the element itself. You can check (or get someone to check) the 12V supply on your car. IF that is dead, you needn't go to the fridge man. If you have 12 V, then do you have a fridge switch in the van? If so, is it working? Probably at this stage it is a case of finding a fridge man to check it out.
I'd suggest you have the car connected and car running - open the bottom outside fridge vent and check if there is 12 volt being supplied to the fridge. if yes, then it is a fridge issue, if not then it is a wiring issue (either the plug fittings or wire to the fridge)
no separate fridge switch that i am aware of, it is a dometic rm2455 3 way and auto switches from 12v whilst driving to gas when stopped, then 240v when connected to power, fridge is switching over ok but not working 12v, yesterday was a long drive in heat, fridge temp went to 15c, then slowly dropped overnight on 240v down to 3c, starting rising today only as its getting hotter outside, switch over to gas fridge holding 4.8c in 37 deg outside temp, yes the fuse is ok
Hopefully a local to that area (Tamworth area), will come along and give you a name of a repairer
There must be a gas fitter in that area, as I met a bloke with a caravan, who was going to Tamworth, to have his gas hot water repaired, about 13 months ago
Sorry that I can not be more specific
Edit to say can you let us know if you find anyone to repair your fridge, as it may help others in the future

ok guys, fridge side is ok no issues, problem lays in the power supply to the fridge, the relay to the fridge is not receiving power from the truck to energise, now this is where the major problem is, unless every panel is removed to expose all hidden wires as there must be a inline fuse hidden somewhere the problem will be near impossible to find. There are no drawings tried contacting Jayco they were very useless in there replys, to get me mobile so i can continue my journey till i get home he has had to wire around the problem to power the relay, fridge now working on 12v not ideal but it is working.
So I am putting it out there anybody that has a Jayco motorhome have you ran into the same or similar power supply problem?? and what was done to fix the issue... Cheers
We had a gas problem, in that it wasn't going to the fridge - going to hot water and stove ok - but no fridge. Lucky we are at family's place so could use power, found a guy here in Maryborough Vic., he had it for a few hours, when we got back - they laughingly told us a little mouse had made a home in there - died from inhaling the gas or something - we had a mouse plague a year or so ago - 143 mice caught in traps in our motorhome.

As it is 12V electrics ,any good auto "electrician " should be able to help
From what you say, it does seem the sensor line tied in with vehicle alternator output voltage is the problem have you checked the voltage on
that line @the fridge?
Definitely should be a fuse somewhere ,just to protect the cable ,if it shorted to frame, should be somewhere accessible
They may have utilized one the vehicle fuses
Have you checked them out.
You should also check the voltage on the control circuit terminal from the house battery , and of course the main 12V power in
Certainly have Jules, and all fuses in truck fuse box, all working fine, after some investigation its quite obvious in extreme weather conditions 35 deg plus these 3 way fridges are unable to cope on 12v, during cool weather or winter time these type of fridges seem to preform.
Upon further checking of the wiring it was discovered the wiring has been reduced in the hidden cavity's of the motorhome from 8mm to 3mm, why?? only Jayco can answer that but they are walking away from it and playing dumb.
End result is 12v power source to fridge is actually only 3 volts, ahh huh no wonder the fridge will not preform to expectations.
Me being me and like a dog with a bone I ran 2 separate 8mm power leads straight from the house battery's to the fridge, bingo within 90 min the freezer was cold from a normal start position, fridge is now receiving 12v as it requires to preform.
I bet the majority of owners with 3 way under preforming 12v fridges are facing the same problems, with so much wiring being hidden it is very hard to trace and find faults, thats why auto electricians lick their lips with glee when a caravan, camper or motorhome pulls into their driveway, money money money and with end result the problem has not been rectified, i will stand and be corrected if i am wrong.
