Dash Cam

We have had a Dash Cam fitted to our Cruisers for some years.  If you keep your windscreen clean, the camera records and produces clear quality video when downloaded onto a computer or other USB recording device.  As is advertised the camera can provide evidence should you unfortunately be involved in an accident.  We have recorded other drivers behaving badly and even road rage incidents, but never get involved unless some feral on ice is causing grief for some decent person.  Depending on the size of the memory, the Dash Cam  can record 8 hours (driving) or more before recording over itself.  However we use it mostly for recording our trips around our country, along coast lines, through forestry areas, National Parks and the out back.  In addition you can freeze the video and take off individual photographs which can be handy.  As most would know, you can also have a secondary camera recording out the side or to the rear - we only have the camera out the front.  It is important to have the best image quality.  Like anything else, you only get what you pay for.  Regards, AlPal.

Hi,
We have a dash cam and we got it when we retired and started travelling with our van.
I know ours recycles after abour 4 hours but that is all I know about it as my husband fitted it and downloads vision when he wants to.
We have seen some pretty silly events happen on the road but fortunately so far touch wood, have not involved us.
Rob, my hubby was in road transport for a good part of our working life and he says that the dash cam is a must if we are ever involved in an accident.
Hope we never have to use it in any situation where we need to proofe something.

Regards
Angie

I got some good footage of an idiot [ female] on a section of road work controlled by trafic lights.

Approx 20 km west of south Grafton on the Gwydir highway. I was going through the trafic controlled section on a green light, The girl came trough a red light from the other direction,  luck I did not meet her until after a section of very narrow road.

Sorry movie too large to post here.

Blackview dash cam with front and rear camera. You can immediately download from cam to smartphone via wifi. If you are driving alone and have an incident, other driver will sometimes blame you if they have a witness in the car. A lady ran into the back of my car at the airport drop off, then accused me of reversing into her. Showed the video and she evaporated.
The camera runs 24/7 on parking mode and creates an incident file if car is bumped while parked and alerts you when you start ignition.
There are many dash cams around but make sure you are getting a safety/ security device and not just a GoPro ( which are great for recording Bush driving etc).
