Placement of reversing camera monitor

Hi Everyone,

I have just had my first drive around the block in my 2005 Jayco Penguin. With the help of the dealer rep I even backed the van onto my front yard. I have a reversing camera, but the monitor does not easily fit over my existing rear view mirror. I am in the process of having the lead extended so I can try it in different spots. One chap suggested I place it on the far right side of the front window so I could easily view the back of the van and check the right side mirror. Suggestions would be welcomed.

Welcome to the gang Diana, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I have my camera monitor on the rear view mirror and even though it clips on I have it cable tied as well. I don't use the mirror when van is on back so works for me.

Reason I have the monitor on mirror is you normally look up there to see out back window if you have one so thought it natural to look up there to see out back of Aluminium TeePee.

As I said, it works for me.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

G'day Dizee and welcome to the forum.  Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit.   We don't have a reversing monitor when connected to the van, just use the built in one occasionally if just out in the tug.

Welcome Dizee!

Our cameras (yes, two of them) are mounted centrally on both tuggor and tuggee.
On the vehicle, the cam is above the towball, can be angled to see the ball and the connection for single-handed hooking up.
On the van, the camera is mounted low, centre, just below the spare wheel, as a rear view camera.
Monitor has switch for selecting which is to be used. Just have to remember to disconnect the van cable before driving off (not done it yet, but it would be a smallish disaster!)

Source was Safety Dave (and I am just a happy customer, no connection otherwise) and install by our friendly Repco service men (again no connection other than years and years of great service!)

Welcome to the forum Dizee maybe I,m a bit late but I only just read your post. The last vehicle I had (Pajero Sport) i had the vans Safety Dave monitor wired by an auto electrician so that the connetion came out out on the drivers side front pillar. When I needed to use it I connected the monitor and mounted it on the windscreen just above the dash using the suction cup. when I traded the car in on a new Grand Cherokee I asked them to remove the monitors wiring from the Sport and put it in the jeep which they agreed to do at no cost. I don,t pick up the new one till I get back to Oz in April but I,m hoping it,s all ready to go.

Cheers

BB
