Thanks Lynda I am glad that someone enjoyed them, maybe my photos are not as high a quality as those posted on here especially DD but at least it should give people some idea of what Oman is like. We met these locals at a bar in a resort near Muscat apparently they had gone a long time without a drink and wanted to make up for it

Yes Joe I have been lucky enough to spend time living and working in a number of countries in different parts of the world during my working career and each one of them has been a positive life experience. As most people on here who spend time travelling would know it is one thing to visit places as a tourist but you don't really get to know people until you have actually lived with them for awhile. In terms of wealth Omanis are pretty well off with low unemployment and good salaries, not the same can be said for the workers that they bring in to do the lower paid labour intensive tasks such as those from India, Pakistan Bangladesh,Philipines and Thailand. The houses are big because they usually have extended families living on each floor all self contained with their own facilities. Some people also choose to live in the mountains in traditional villages maybe work in the city all week and go back home on the weekend. There are also the nomadic Bedouins who live in little desert camps with a few camels and goats and thats exactly how they like it. My favourite is the photo of the dust devil that looks a bit like a genie........
