So i have sorted my Camper trailer out but need some advice on Power for 1x CF40 Waeco fridge freezer
and 1 x small 12v fridge for milk drinks etc
Problem
i have a Daul battery system in my Hilux 2.7 petrol 2x2
want to poss run both fridges on battery for 2 maybe 3 days max off of said 12v system and a couple of LED lights
question to the more informed Nomads is it possible to run an extra Aux battery and have it charge of the dual battery system whilst in the fridge box on
camper trailer, i have Mr Googled this problem to no avail,i have Generator if really needed but some places in WA unable to use.
Or can i get a Power pack battery box and use that but still have same issue of charging
Could anyone please advise if this is at all possible
I would say . A good 180 /250 watt solar would get you through . Similar to . https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com.au%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F322180716246
Yes a good solar panel will be needed I think. I have a 160w but would suggest bigger. I have a second Aux battery in a battery box that fits in the back of the cruiser. I keep it portable of other jobs. Its not connected to the dual battery system. Best to put the solar regulation on the battery box not the solar panel to get a better charge. I can also connect the solar panel to the BCDC on the dual battery system to help keep those batteries charged up also. Other than that you would need to run the engine for a while each day.

Hi Brimhunter
If you want to charge another battery that is remote from the 4x4 then you would be advised to get a dc to dc charger to do that. Also good size wires and a proper connector to joint the two batteries.
If you calculate the power needed from the camper battery then you will know what size battery to use, and can then calculate how big a dc to dc charger to use to get it fully charged in a reasonable time.
Or as suggested you can get a solar panel or two and a regulator and use that. Probably about the same price If the sun keeps shining then stay forever.
Note those simple 12v fridges draw a continuous current and do not turn off, if they are not a compressor type. They use more power than you might think.
