RG Colorado Questions

heya folks,

we've just bought a 2012 RG 4x4 manual Colorado dual-cab and am wondering if anyone has attempted cleaning out inside the top of the engine covers, egr piping, intercooler... if so was there anything to take note of like special tools or replacing internal egr components?

Also if someone has a link to a good technical workshop manual that would be fantastic...

don't leave the keys in the ignition even with the ignition turned completely off. Did this twice and resulted in a flat battery both times - holdens response "it's illegal to leave keys in the ignition". Both times we were on a farm where nothing ever gets locked and farmers always leave keys in all vehicles

Hi Robert, I notice you have been around here for a while but I have never noticed you before so, welcome to the gang, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I have a 2014 RG Twin Cab Colorado but am unaware of what you ask sorry. I leave that stuff up to the qualified.

I love my Collie but am nearly ready to bite the bullet and get rid of the tub and fiberglass Canopy and put a aluminium shed (Canopy) on the back instead. It will be much easier to get things in and out of then. Probably a tad lighter in the back end as well.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Hey robertbruce, the D-max Colorado forum has a bit of info about cleaning the intake system on these vehicles. To prevent this build up it would seem a catch can helps. I put one on my max from new and it does collect the oil passing from the rocker cover into the intake system. I believe this oil vapor when mixed with recirculating exhaust gas particles forms the deposits throughout the air intake system slowely reducing engine performance. Some of the photos on the forum will certainly show you the problem caused by EGR valves. Hope this helps. Sorry dont have the link avaliable for the forum at the minute.
