total instrument panel failure inc air con.flying blind..have van and car in storage in Perth till I return in June.only had time to check cab fuses, seemed ok.wonder if its a computer reset job.only happened after van was hitched, drove ok,but had flight to catch so couldnt deal with it then.any advice appreciated.
Try disconnecting battery ? Seems it has blown fuse or high resistant connection in loom
? Battery connections good ? Including earth from
Chassis to engine .
The instrument cluster has quite a lot of electronics in it and it may be one of its internal power supplies which has failed.
However, if you need a new one out of warranty I suspect it will cost a *packet*! :(
And I can also tell you that I had a hand in the design of a cluster for a major manufacturer and we sold it to the vehicle manufacturer for A$127 iirc - you'll pay rather more.
The really unfortunate point about such electronic modules is that it is often a single component of value less than $1 which has failed but because dealers et al are not capable, or prepared, to fault find to component level you'll be paying $2000+ for a replacement.

Thanks Mike, did have flat battery once but was all good after.did check Inst panel fuse in cab but not under bonnet. Had to leave tug at storage day of failure to catch flight.hope rac -Nrma can replace battery and check fuses, else were stuck in Perth missing catch up with friends in Broome.thanks for your input.cheers lloyd.
Could possibly be a fault with the body control module which in the Mazda and Ranger controls pretty much everything electrical in the vehicle. Have seen some really strange things happen when something like a battery or hooking up spot lights has shut down all sorts of things in the vehicle.
I would strongly suggest getting a auto sparky onto it first.
Thanks for replies guys.had friend meet rac-Nrma at car.he installed a new battery and all came good.seems computer reset after battery disconnect.gotta give it to Nrma for organising it,so helpful.
