removing microwave oven

Hi All,

our microwave seems to have stopped working. lights come on, plate goes round and round but nothing heats up.

I have tried to get it out of its enclosure but I can see that the legs at the bottom are screwed down to the shelf it sits on.

Directly below the oven is the fridge and from what I can see I would have to remove the fridge to get at the screw heads. Has anyone else had this problem or got any ideas about it.

The van is a 2009 Traveller Sunseeker.

Thanks

Ross

Sounds like job for a Hacksaw blade with a handle on one end only, or just the blade with some tape around one end. Hopefully long enough to reach the back screws as well. Another method would be angel wire fed around the screws with an old wire coathanger.

If you can find the man able to do that give him my number please. They fitted the microwave THEN placed the perfect fitting facia around it, Why do they fit microwaves into off road vans ?. Bloody thing has rattled loose and we cannot remove it and rarely use it.

We had this problem with our Travaler. The microwave rattled loose after a few corrugated roads, and it was screwed up from underneath. Fortunately it was not over the Fridge. I modified it by putting a piece of lightweight angle over the top and made two long bolts out of all thread to pull it down with, like a battery clamp. Then put the trim back.

We had one like that in a '93 Regent van. The fascia was stuck to the cupboard front with caulking compound. We were advised to run a trimming knife around it with the blade well extended. We had to go around the fascia several times before it parted company with the cupboard. Give that a try.

Bunnings alice springs had small angle brackets so evened the microwave up and screwed said angle brackets into side of micro then into facia. hope this works but I guess roper bar to Weipa then to the top will either fix it or. When back home will pull the dam lot out and fit an overhead cupboard. ( keep the CEO happy ).

I managed to get the M/W out by removing the facia, a screw on either side holding it in place, then lifting the front up a bit and cutting the screws with a hacksaw blade, for the one screw in the back, I removed the outside vent and using a long screwdriver levered it up off the screw then removed the M/W and cut the screws back to the base.
When I put this post up I emailed the same question to Traveller Caravans. As van is 9years old didn't really expect a reply. Today I got a phone call from them explaining how to remove it which was I had to remove the fridge to get at the screw heads them replace with new M/W and screw back in to place so that it wouldn't move around while on the road.
To me this is great service from the manufacture, how many car or van builders would do this for something they sold 9 years ago.
Thanks everyone for your replies.
