Have had my Van plugged to the 240 supply from home make sure the house batterries are fully charged as well as the breakaway battery just incase we decide to wear some more tread off the Van tyres in the near future :).
Upon inspection of the breakaway batterry it was showing Red(Flat ) although it had been on charge via the house batterrries for near a week !!??...
Online reading about the camec breakaway , Grey Nomads here of others queries re the same problemo , and in the end unscreqwed the housing from the tunnel boot , pulled fuse , unplugged said battery and place it on the charger which showed full charge !!?? , Multimeter said yep full charge , so back to the tunnel boot checking fuses which were okay . Plugged everything back in again and Guess what ?? Indicator agreeed this time with a happy Green light so must have been a loose connection the somewhere im thinking .
Soo next time someone comes across simmillar problem maybe try what i went through :)..
Break away batteries are in most instances charged by the tug while travelling and have nothing to do with any circuitry associated with the main batteries and associated charging system. Unusual if it is connected in any way to the main battery charging system.

Our van as been laid up for 3months while we have been house sitting and I have just noticed that the red charger light as been on .So I presume that it is being charged by the house batteries have been charging the breaksafe battery .When I press the button the green light comes on so presume that it is fully charged
Most van are NOT wired to charge the Break-Away battery. Some of the new ones have jumped onboard and are doing so. Probably from customers complaining
that the battery was not getting charged and the dealer did not mention that fact.
Be aware that some vans have a switch on the break-away box that allows you select 240v supply. Some are NOT wired up. So no matter which position
the switch is selected, it will only charge from the tow vehicle.
Until such time that I get around to re-wiring this mess, I sourced a receiver tow plug from the wreckers and connected it to the house battery.
This way, break-away battery is getting charged at the same time as house battery.

They certainly do or at least mine does and according to the Camec instruction or user leaflet it indicates the black and white wire for charging from your household batterries ie Van.
You look at the Camec breakaway batterry holder and it indicates charging either from tug or house batterries , offcourse it must be wsired to do so :)..
