Hello from NT

Hello all and thanks to the Admins for adding me to the forum.  I hope to learn a lot on this forum as I am new to caravaning.    I currently have a 2013 Dmax decked out for camping with solar going in at the moment.  We have been campers travelling aruond Oz for the last 15 years.  But the rigours of camping are taking a toll on the back for the missus and myself, and many camper trailers are too much like camping with all the setting up and cost nearly what many vans are.  Will mainly be sticking to the highway these days, as we've done a lot of the north of Oz including the Kimberleys and Queensland.  The van will be used as a base and then unhitching and exploring on day trips around where ever we are.  I might add we are nomads to a degree, but only in our late fourties, so not so much on the grey side.  Kids have grown up so time to explore more.

Currently finishing decking out the Dmax with brake controllers, mirrors, running an Anderson plug to the rear.  Still looking at vans though.  Being in Darwin we only have a Jayco dealer to choose from, so looking at their range of poptops to find something that fits under our carport.  Looking forward to being on here.

Regards

Aaron

G'day Aaron (and family) and welcome to the forum.  Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit. Sounds like you have a firm grasp on improving your lot.

Hello & welcome Aaron, its a great forum with heaps of info on most topics.

We have a D-Max (2016) and a Jayco Destiny pop top. Our first set up for our touring life that will begin in earnest next year.(we are legit Greys).

We have had 3 trips away so far so have sorted out most things we will need, and that we need to rely on, ( Solar, Batteries, water, Tug gear etc).

Our Destiny has the Toilet /Shower set up. We have found the Destiny to be ideal for the 2 of us, plus 2 dogs, easy to set up and maintain and not too heavy. Have to watch the weights though, especially Tow Ball Weight. Weighed ours fully laden, TBW on plate (empty) 150kg, our weight 240kg. No probs for the D-Max though!

So if there is anything we can help you with if you happen to get a similar Jayco, (or otherwise), give us a yell !

Good luck with the Van hunt.

Cheers,  Chris & Sharyn.
