These diesel heaters appear to be the bane of many peoples' lives. I've just been through the experience of completely stripping one down after slowly working through everything else that might be wrong. It is now cleaned and ready to go back in for testing except for one small thing. I have lost the screen that goes around the glow plug.
Now I have purchased these before and have the special tool to insert them. It seems however that the "industry" only wants to sell you these with a tool which is totally unnecessary if you kept your first one.
Does anyone know where I can buy the screens as an individual item? $2 out of China with free postage, but of course they take 2 months to get here. That's a bit of a time when you are travelling.
bushsong, it looks like a section of rolled stainless steel mesh. Can you buy some and cut it to size, roll and tie youself? Any leftover mesh could be used as spares.

Do they? I'm very interested in why you say that.
There is currently a lot of interest and many posts regarding diesel heaters on forums but I have seen little, if any, criticism of them. Do you know otherwise?
