New member needing advice!!!

Hello everyone!!!! We have bought our first van, and are looking forward to hitting the road.  Can anyone offer advice about which insurance company to use????  Also a rough idea of how much it may be for a 21 foot caravan.  Thanks in advance :) Alan and Bron Scott

Welcome to the gang Alan, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Insurance has been discussed ony in the last few days here on the forum. Have a look in the 'general' section or just type Insurance in the search bar located in the top thick blue line above, heaps of info.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Insurance premiums are based on the amount the van is insured for.

Hello Alan Scott

Firstly welcome to the forum

It is usually a matter of personal choice on what you require to be covered

For many years I used RAC Western Australia, to cover my old caravan for fully comprehensive insurance

RACWA do not cover a motorhome

I use CIL which was close enough to KEN TAME who deal through CMCA
You have to be a member of CMCA to obtain KEN TAME Insurance

One benefit CMCA is that you can have access to their low cost (self contained) camps

When they roll out these camps in Western Australia, I will certainly do my due diligence, to see if I will join them

It is very important, (in my opinion, so I could be wrong) to read the PDS (Product Disclosure Statement), to see exactly what you are insured for

Make sure it covers you for falling tree limbs!

Oh dear, Tony, but I must offer a correction. Anyone wishing to insure with Ken Tame can do so by joining the "Australian Touring RV Club", a branch is based here in WA. it is afilliated with the CMCA for insurance purposes.

I stand corrected, Ian

I was unaware that you can be a member of "Australian Touring RV Club" to obtain Ken Tame insurance

I stand corrected a second time
You can also obtain Ken Tame insurance by being a member of NACC (not sure exactly what this is)

I further stand corrected a third time
You can obtain Ken Tame insurance without being a member of anything

Below is a screenshot of a section of their quote page, I assume that if you are not a member of anything, you can click the appropriate buttons

Crikey ! I was insured with Ken Tame, until I had a claim, (some idiot kicked the door in on the ute.) the premium went up enormously, and we lost or "No claims" bonus, while I know the cost of repairs was only $1700, of which $500 we paid up front! Went to RAC been happy with them, still happy now.
