Geraldton free camp update August 2018

I searched but could not find a post dedicated to the free camp at Geraldton WA

Approximately 12 dedicated sites

I camped adjacent within the same large carpark overnight on 22/22-8=2018

I was advised by one other travellers that the ranger would give me a fine

Next morning the ranger came around, and after speaking to him in a civilised manner there was no fine

But...

Here is some advice

The area is only for 24 hours

There is a sign somewhere saying do not park in the vehicle with boats area (each parking bay is well marked)

On a fine day, the boat area fills up very quickly, and the boaties do get upset, to see caravans in their parking bays

After our talk where we both acted in a civilised manner, I pointed to my Grey Nomad Sticker and received permission to pass on his advice

His name was Kim, and this did not come from his lips, but by utilising my skill of reading between the lines
The local caravan parks, do not want us to stay there
There are some short bays, not suitable for caravans, but by reversing with the back over the pavement, you can squeeze a motorhome in

The free camp has a dump point, and potable water tap, 10 metres away from the dump point
