I see our erstwhile experts have set up another Quango. ( Quasi Autonomous Government Organisation.)
This time to look at our Telecommunications Infrastructure.
No idea what it cost to set up but why was this not done before the NBN was even considered ? Looks like a clear case of shutting the stable door after the horse has Bolted.
While I'm on my soapbox. When the cellphone system was being rolled out and Telstra and Optus and then a few others started supplying phone plans did we have all these Telcos set up their own networks with their own towers etc.
Would it not have been better to have a National cellphone grid that they all contributed to, and used instead of the duplicated system we have now.
It's all about the false Gods of free enterprise & free market.
The biggest impediment to a rational communications system in this country has always been the old Department of Communications.
The greatest political error was the privatisation of Telstra. BTW that was the only Au organisation capable of building an NBN but our Pollies ripped it apart & spread all of the irreplaceable expertise on the dump.
