Hi robmar, welcome to the forum

Unfortunately not many people come to this part of the forum
Most questions, unless they are technical, are usually asked in the main General Forum

I have not been on that road (by car) for over ten years, over twenty years (with a caravan), so I can not help you there

If you ask in the General forum, there may be people who have recently been on that road
(Unless you are already in Esperance)

Wikicamps, and the Camps Australia book, have a lot of information, about the free camps

Hi there is plenty of free camping starting at Albany is cosy corner just 30 km west then head east to Betty's Beach and there are two more free camps nearby next head to wellstead there is a cheap camp bush camp in town  .cape Richie has a camp right on beach $9 a person a night great spot next you can camp at pallinup river or boat harbour  For free as you get closer to esperance there are not as many free camping they are national parks or cheap camps. We stayied at munglinup a few years ago good spot cape legrand national park has some great spots as well if you like camping in national parks you can buy a yearly pass much cheaper hope this helps some of the best coast in Aussie and make sure you go to the sterling ranges and pallinup ranges cheers.

I am at Wellstead Bush Camp atm. Great spot - HOT shower in the new mobility bathroom. Only $10 a night but may go up soon to $15 for 2 ($10 single). Heaps of room, all level sites. A local farmer has set up his paddock just for us so please support him. Power available $5. He is also talking about putting in a kitchen/fire-pit area sheltered from the wind. There is also a dump point at Wellstead, and a cafe.
