G,Day. I have a dual axle van with a broken rear l/h spring. Do I replace just the broken spring, replace both sides or replace all 4 springs ? Any advice would be much appreciated.
HI
Have all the bushings /rollers checked for wear.
One spring is ok but if u go offroad often and it has a bit of age and perhaps wear is obvious on the leaves do both .
Went through this in January, broke left rear main spring, lucky I was able to claim under Insurance after hitting potholes and roadworks on a trip to Adelaide and back, RACQ to the rescue and full lift towing back to Sunny Coast.
Our van was purchased as a used one with unknown km travelled. 2003 Jayco Tandem Pop Top
Basically the Insurance was only going to replace the one side only, but somehow both complete sets turned up at the repairers, including the rockers and support arms.
So I paid to have the extra set fitted for peace of mind, this included new bearings and tyres, would rather know that all the suspension was new as you do not know what fatigue has set in with age or useage.
Have since done a 5000km trip with without a worry.
