Vast & Foxtel

Hi everybody,

We have just had a satellite dish and vast system installed in our motorhome.  i would now like to connect our Foxtel IQ2 box to the system and am not sure how to go about it so am hoping someone can assist.

I have put up images of how everything is set up now but Im not sure what plugs into what - technology is becoming advanced quicker than I can keep up

Stay safe

Di

Di,

Not an expert at all, as we only have VAST.

1) Assume your Foxtel IQ2 setup/box at home is satellite and not cable (Foxtel will only transfer from home to van if your setup/box at home is satellite, as I understand)

2) Do you have a dual LNB on your satellite dish? If you do, then you should have a spare wire from the dish coming into the motorhome. That would plug into the outlet on the Foxtel box that takes the satellite cable at home.

3) If you don't have a dual LNB, then you would need to take the satellite cable out of the Satking box, and connect it into the Foxtel box when you want to watch that.

I think this is how it works, but if I am wrong, someone in the know will be along soon and correct my errors, I am certain.

Thanks so much Ian, I will have a play with it later this evening. Hopefully we will be sitting watching Foxtel with a glass of red wine, if not it will be the whole bottle on my own

Hello Di

In order to connect both decoders you will need to do the following:

1. Have a dual output LNB and 2 coax cables to the van
2. Install a multiswitch (see here www.satplus.com.au/collections/satellite-tv-parts-and-accessories/products/satking-2-in-4-out-multiswitch?variant=747025579) I will attach a picture.
3. Using short coax cables connect the dual LNB to the switch above and the decoders from the outputs of the switch

The switch will adjust the signal to each input of the decoders.

Doing it this way means you only need to connect it all once and can view from either decoder by changing the input selection on your TV.

hope that helps

Frank

Foxtel 004.jpgDi, I have the same set-up in my van that you are inquiring about, my Satking box has an input jack & output jack. From my twin LNB, I have one cable going to each box and loop from the output jack on the Satking box to jack 2 on my Foxtel box.

Hi Fiery,

I shall pull my box out tonight and have a look. Im not sure if when they fitted the sat dish whether they fitted dual LNB.

At the moment we only have the Foxtel hooked up and are appreciative of that but we want it setup so that everything works.

I really appreciate the input from everybody, its been very helpful.

Hi Frank,  just read your  reply to the original post . Just had Foxtel installed to my van. I am fitting the signal splitter between both boxes  am tomorrow and will then fit the HDMI switcher  to allow me to change between the Fox box and Vast box via a remote (controller from J Car). Does this sound correct.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards John

My husband Rob fitted a switch like this one to our single LNB input and just wired it to Fox Box and the Vast decoder.

www.satplus.com.au/collections/satellite-tv-parts-and-accessories/products/high-isolation-satellite-switch

Once fitted we can switch to whatever decoder we want.

He just said it was much simpler than having to replace a perfectly good LNB for the sake of having dual LNB inputs as if you only have 1 tv then you can only watch from one signal at a time.
The only thing we cant do is watch Vast and record Fox at the same time but in our case we never do that anyway.
