Strengthen your rear bumper otherwise you might get a rude shock one day & find that you've left the lot, bikes 'n all 300kms behind you somewhere.

Last year we almost lost our rear bumper & all it was carrying was a standard spare wheel. Weld broke on the right hand side.

Rear bumpers are not designed to carry extra weights.

Better off carrying bikes inside van. As DD said rear caravan bumpers are not very strong in most cases.

Also you can't leave the van in a shopping centre otherwise you will lose your bikes to someone who thinks their entitlements surpass yours.

Further, you will be reducing towball weight quite significantly.

HI
The trouble is ,
some rear bars are for decoration some are not . The majority will be for appearance only . The bar needs to be attached to the van properly and designed to carry the weight intended . Eg a tool box /bikes . The rear bar has to allow for the weight bouncing up and down etc

A good design is to have it take a bike carrier , tube for annex poles, spare tyre etc

If at all possible a much better spot for a bike rack is on the front of the van as with these racks www.gripsport.com.au/product-category/bike-racks-caravans-campers/ Racks on the back are subject to a lot of bouncing and lots of stories of them coming off while travelling.
