I hope you all have a merry Christmas and a safe new year.
Now down the reason for this post, been working on our jayco caravan that also has it's own hot water system for the shower and kitchen sink. The problem was very poor pressure , but only out of the hot tap. It got to the point that the water flow had almost stopped. I have always replace the anode in the hot water tank and also flushed the build up white rubbish that is a buy product of the anode working.
Clutching at straws i went and replaced the main filter cartridge and this had no effect on the water pressure. While i had a cup of tea and a bit of a think and a look under the caravan. i found the mixing valve. This takes the hot water from the hot water tank and also the cold water supply and mixes the too together and then goes to the hot water taps in the caravan. Pulling the mixer out and over to my work bench i found that the hot water inlet had a small wire gauze on the hot water inlet to the mixer. This was totally block with the same white crud that had worked it's way from the hot water tank. Cleaning the little filter and re installing the mixer valve and after bleeding the hot water lines all good and now the hot water pressure ( flow ) is the same as the cold water.
One thing to check when one replaces the anode for the hot water.
When changing anode, if you don't relieve pressure before unscrewing -- the resultant woosh of pressurised water will blow most of the crud out of the tank - found this out by forgetting to relieve pressure - blew crud everywhere.
