Diesel heater flame out

Pap diesel heater flame out

We have installed a 3kw diesel heater in our fan was working fine. After being not used for several months having trouble getting it to fire up and when it does blows copious amounts of white smoke and the throws e8 error code which is flame out. Have replaced the fuel filter and the pump will prime but then it either does not fire or blow smoke and then flames out. Would appreciate some help

Cheers

Jenny

Check for blockages in inlet and exhaust.

Could be old fuel, you should run the heater every month for a few minutes on high.

Some of those light colored plastic fuel tanks promote bacterial growth in the fuel.

Same problem last year. Old mate said when left for extended periods without running, diesel tends to turn to jelly in the fuel pump. A 10% kero mixture in your fuel tank should avoid any further dramas. So far so good. Don't forget to run it for a few minutes every month or so.

Possibly the Glow Plug Filter Screen is blocked or the small air hole onto the screen is blocked with carbon deposits.

If you are reasonably handy this can be done by yourself. Not hard.

I had my Eberspacher out of the van and in on the bench for a strip down clean and New filters (and Gaskets) took me about three hours from Start to having it test fired again in the van. I have done this before as well.

You do not have to remove the unit from the van to just change the Glow Plug Filter it can be don in Situ.

I have also run the heater just on Kerosene to give it  Clean in Place.   Just run it full belt for an hour on Kero.

When I did the service this time the Combustion chamber had very little carbon in it.
