Rubber Roof Replacement

Hi all, I have a 2008 Leisure Seeker motorhome and have a small leak right at the back.  After taking it to RV place in Toowoomba, I was told that the rubber membrane on these Winnebago's only had a lifetime of 7 years and that mine needed replacing - at a cost of $10,500.

Does anyone have experience of this?  I want to make sure I'm not being led up the wrong highway.

Thanks in advance

Jennifer

Hi smile

There is quite a bit of information on these rubber roofs if you search. But do know that most information may be trying to scare you into buying their product. I had one on my previous Leisure Seeker MH. I sealed a few leaks and the tv aerial lead in, with that special sealer that Peter referred to. I also later scraped a low tree branch and had to patch a small hole and damage with it also. Was still OK some years later when we sold it.

You should wash the roof occasionally with "special" cleaner stuff ?? and the white oxide off the roof comes off. That is normal. Probably pays to do a bit of maintainance as the rubber does not last forever but still has a long life. I think mine was then perhaps 15 years old.aww

Good luck, try Avida agents for the sealer and cleaner. The Winnebago name was changed to Avida some years back.

I refreshed mine with membrane sealer . If theres small cracks ? May require a patch ? Then painted twice with good water based paint . The sealer is the same they use on pools , fish tanks etc . I got unbelievable quotes to replace with alloy etc . Over $10k I did the above for around $200 . With sealer and paint left over .. Dont let water into ply under rubber ! If theres damage to ply ? Check YouTube .
