Hi Paul. Have had the same problem.Continuity in the element but stuff all heating. Checked further and found a faulty thermostat. Pretty expensive but very easy to fit.
I repaired mine with a part from Jaycar. Cost about $5.60 and about 40 min work to fit it to the heat sink. Works a treat. I learned the hard way and now I have a spare element.

Thanks Baz. Mine is showing 40.5 ohms so seems all ok there. I am beginning to think it may be the 240v HWS switch. The switch has never been smooth to operate and almost jammed at times. We have been having intermittant 240 problems, very annoying to try to isolate and fix.

OK Paul

maybe time to look at thermostat and cut out switch. There is a panel there 12V on right I think and 240v on left.

Have you got a sparkie that can look at it,,, I traced mine out,,,, also have you got the booklet for it.

Maybe look at on off switch and whole circuit,,, but my on off switch is also very stiff (since new) and I leave it on at  heater as I have a 240 power switch inside the van.

Have you pressed the reset button on the cut out?

Good luck

Thanks for the help. I have tested HWS on 240v and it heats up and turns off, so will leave the inbuilt HWS switch on and see if the 240v side gives trouble again. Don't use the 240v side very often as we are mostly off grid and on gas.
