My 94 y/o Mum suffers from Macular degeneration and needs plenty of light to read the newspaper after she goes to bed. She also loves ABC AM radio 774. She has a pelmet above the bedhead and the bayonet fitted globe was not strong enough. From my bits and pieces I found some Chinese 240v led 10 watt lights around a foot long and connected them together. They are very successful for reading BUT they interfere with static in the AM radio. Thoughts on solving the dilemma?
You may have some success threading the 240V wires in the light unit with several turns through a toroid core. Its not uncommon for LED ballasts to cause interference on radios.
Seems to be a lot of trouble for a household situation when LED globes are commonly available for bayonet installation. The Brightest Standard Size Bulb: The Philips 1620 Lumen LED Bulb is the brightest LED bulb that fits in common household fixtures and lamps. ... The Philips 100w Equivalent LED Bulb is the brightest standard-size household bulb available.
I just checked on line and the pricing for a Philips 1620 Lumen LED Bulb is ranging from $9.95 to $12.50ea.

Thanks Possum, probably right. The "static causing" set up is 20 watts. This week tried a 4' Aldi that I had in workshop, not sure of the watts yet. No static BUT too dim for Mum. Now looking at this,
