We have two, 1 near each bed end at about standing face height. One good thing with the Sirocco is the gimbal which allows you to aim it in any direction and the other is the timer. Andy

One of ours is mounted on the wall near the end of the bed, about 6ft off the ground. The other one is mounted on the bottom of the last cupboard (the one nearest the bed) on our cupboards along the table wall. It swings down so either can be pointed towards the bed or at the table area.
Have now mounted the fan and very happy with the result.
To power the fan I was going to use a 12 volt cig lighter but while feeding the wire though the wall I was unable to direct it to where I needed it, a bit extra work was called removing the mirco wave oven in doing so found a 12 volt power supply from a under bench light, awesome. Job now neat as and no unnecessary holes.
We have mounted ours in a similar position, what I did was fastened a foam block on the wall so when the fan is in the stowed position, the gimbal boss at the west position is supported by the block to dampen any jolts when traveling. I'm pretty sure I have a picture on here in one of my past threads.
Put ours on a piece of 18mm ply, then covered it in kitchen carpet, extended the lead, so can move it to the best position. An odd shape base to fit onto the best position on triangle small corner cupboard top. Unit is velco attached for more flexibility and easier storage.

Hi iana, I giving some thought to something in that line to supports ours. Thank you.
I have just had a look at the new model fan, i.e. the gimbal bushes are slightly different and do not have the boss sticking out that I used as the support on the block, but a block could be fitted at the 180" point under the gimbal. This fan has traveled many hundreds of km's on rough roads, and yes the top hinge point felt worn.
I dont like drilling holes and mounting things on walls personal opinion here I dont like the look of fans dangling from the walls, ours comes out of the cupboard and sits on the counter near the tv when needed...

That was one of my reason for fixing it permanent to the caravan, no need to get it out, its there ready to use, something else not under the bed.
As for not drilling into the caravan, 5 holes, neat as, looks like it was ment to be, hard wired into fused power supply.
Previously 240 volt fan, extention lead, small inverter all left behind in the box marked "extra caravan spares", I think I need bigger box.
