We have a Landrover Discovery 4 MY 2015 and are intending to fit a CB radio. Our intention is to buy a CB with the controls in the handset. We want to minimise damage to the dash and wondered whether any Disco owners out there have any advice for us about where to fit the radio.
I'm surprised no one has answered yet.
I don't have a disco but do have a GME TX3350 with handset controls in my Hilux. It's fitted behind the glovebox and I have a passthrough socket panel from Lightforce with RJ45 sockets each side. The handset lives on it's holder which is glued using holmt melt glue (not screwed) to the dash at easy arm's reach. It can be unplugged and stowed but I never do that.
It might be hard to find a passthrough specifically for the disco but shop around they could exist. I've seen some that people have made up themselves using a switch panel blank.

I don't have a Disco but a Pajero Sport to which I fitted a Uniden UH9080 CB radio and also a Uniden 6.6dB-gain antenna.
Not too hard to fit radio and, as you want, all controls and indicators in hand-set. I'm pleased with how easily I was able to install this radio and what and what a great piece of kit it is.

Thanks for the advice dabbler, much appreciated. I think people may have noted the Disco information and perhaps thought twice about replying because dash configurations are obviously different from make to make.
Like Dabbler I have a GME TX3350 fitted into our Ranger. The TX3350 is about the same size and thickness as a small paperback book. Because of the small size I simply mounted mine on the side of the console hump, for the nearly two years it hasn't interfered with my left leg.
The hand held mike with controls is easy to use. It also has an inbuilt speaker that you can select between the one in the radio or mike.
(PS: when I first installed it and pressed the on button it didn't work. I took it back to the shop and asked them to test it. Imagine my embarrassment when there was nothing wrong with it. The technician then explained that you have to hold the 'on' button down for a couple of seconds to turn it on! Likewise, to turn it off.)
We have the GME TX3100 Plug n Play. You don't need to permanently install it. Power comes from the cigarette lighter style plug, and the aerial is a stubby magnetic mount on the roof. I have attached it to the side of the console with heavy duty sticky back velcro and simply route the aerial wire under the floor mat, up the door rubber and out on to the roof. I can the switch it to another vehicle at short notice, and no holes are drilled anywhere. Performance is great - more than enough for clear communication to those around you while towing a van.
Robyn, Here are a few pix of my CB radio installation in my Pajero Sport. With this type of radio (all controls in hand-piece) they can be mounted almost anywhere you can get a 12v supply to and run hand-piece connector cable to. Connector cable extensions are readily available if needed. My radio base has a switchable speaker in it in addition to the one in the hand-piece. (Better for the hard-of-hearing). You should find it easy to install this type of CB radio in your Disco.
