I'm assuming that the regulator is a Victron 100/50. First thing I need to know in order to assist is what type of controller it is. SmartSolar 100/50 or Blue Solar100/50. Let me know what it is and we can go from there. I'm a long time Victron user so I'm somewhat familiar with them.

I have a Victron blue solar and I emailed Victron to find out what the difference was between there smart solar reg and my blue solar reg.answer the smart solar version has the tecknowlegy to work. With your mobile phone.

Having built in Bluetooth certainly makes life a bit cheaper and easier - no buying cable sets or dongles... But that's alright - the SmartSolar regulator has a rotary switch on it to set the charging parameters for your battery type.

If you're using either cable or the Bluetooth dongle to alter the settings then the settings you enter will override the rotary switch, moving the rotary switch will override what you've entered and you'll have to enter the settings again.

If you feel the need to reset the regulator just disconnect all power from the device for about three minutes and reconnect. The settings will then default to whatever the rotary switch is set to. The Victron manual has more information than you could shake a stick at. The next question is where and how are you measuring this voltage ?

Thanks Mark that explains it but I already have the basic one and it does the same jog not much point in buying another..

Mark just re read your post I read the voltage from the voltmeter tha came with the van its in one of the cupboards.its the identical one thats on the charger they are supplied together from new,when on solar power the volt meter obviously reads what the panels are supplying...

Voltage readings from various volt meters can be a bit all over the place. Currently my solar regulator says that there is 0.1V from the solar panels but there's nothing plugged into the solar input. The voltmeter in the battery compartment tells me my batteries are at 12.87V, the meter inside the camper tells me 12.88V and a calibrated volt meter tells me 12.86V. I think I'll go with what a calibrated VOM tells me.. A variation between various uncalibrated measuring devices of a few tens of milli volts is nothing to worry about. In fact I would expect it.
