Min Min lights can be seen all over Oz but are probably seen by few people as they always seem to be in remote areas. I've never seen them but discovered recently my BIL wants to go looking for them around Boulia too.
They are generally accepted as a real phenomenon but no one really has an explanation that can be proven. There are lots of theories though.
I have seen it once.
We were working on a property between Springsure and Tambo.
Three of us together all saw it. Looked like a full moon rising low on the horizon at first.
took about 15 -20mins to travel in a low arc across the horizon.
We were sitting around a campfire after dinner, no alcohol, we had run out days ago...
Was a clear night, no mist or clouds around.
It looked to be no more than a few kilometres away, just a bright ball without any features or marking at all.
We tried looking at it through the rifle telescope, but it didn't help, just a bigger bright ball.
Was eerie, but amazing.
Don't think I will ever forget it.
Once in Oct 1997 we were camped near Lawn Hill Qld. Bright reddish light travelling extremely slowly moving ever so slightly South to North (so not a shooting star) was there for about 15minutes then just disappeared. As El Gringo very clear cloudless night.

I could have a bit of an explanation , for some sightings . One Winters night I had been travelling for many hours in a truck across the grasslands of the Barkley Tablelands in The Gulf Area .
Carrying Aviation gas for a mining exploration setup , looking for diamonds .
I was in the middle of the night , only stars shining , pitch dark otherwise, dirt road , on the horizon I started to see this light sort of bounce and slowly move from side to side . This was going on for a couple of hours , I was in a truck only doing about 60km's an hour . Two hours and I did not seem to be getting any closer to the light .
Then finally I come across this poor guy in a semi trailer , who had run into a bull , the sudden stop had moved his load of railway iron , they slipped into the back of his sleeper cab .
He had unhooked the prime mover and was hooking up to each one with a chain and pulling them back into place . His headlights is what I could see going back and forth.
Because it was on the plains , at night there is a mirage that can take place , this lets you see over the horizon for miles . That is why I could see his light for Hours moving towards him at 60 kms an hour . I wished I didn't see him , spending the rest of the night helping him chain up . Making more min mins !!!
