Gas heater in van

Have had local guy on Central Coast nsw, install truma gas heater I was surprised how compact the unit is and how it tucks away under our double bed (( i did put a wire shelving around the unit to make sure nothing touched unit )) even though i found the unit was barrely warm after running for a few hrs.The unit installation has vent into van fitted and it is blowing hot air at floor level, the return air into unit is drawn in around bed frame and also has a couple of vents each side of bed base , the exhaust air is funelled out under floor and has a neat exhaust outlet. My lady was not happy with me spending $2.7k  , however, after doing some free camping and using generator to run air con with air being discharged at head level and not warming your feet , turning off a/c and switching on truma unit it sold its self on being more comfortable and warming right into bathroom area.  The control is mounted on wall on my ladies side of bed and she can turn on very easily. It was a generous comment from my cute lady, yes it is really good. A gold star for poppy.

The good thing about either diesel or gas heaters is they HEAT the air almost instantly. While compressor A/C recirculate the air first ! Ahhh

I am so jealous coming from us touring South Australia which is experiencing the coldest winter for 8 years.

I love my gas heater fitted to the aluminium tent. When in the colder states it gets a good work out.

I had a small problem a couple of months back while in Young NSW where it would start up but then cut out a minute later, this continued for a week getting worse so found a Truma agent and he came and had a look. Turns out it was starved of gas so he adjusted the gas regulator on the front of the aluminium tent and problem solved. I don't need it here in Townsville although it was only 8c an hour ago. It will be 25c by lunch time though so all good.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Yes, Truma gas heaters are great.

We are at Boulia ( Qld. ) right now. The heater has been going for around 2 hours.

20 degrees in the van and 2 degrees outside  under the awning.

Time is 8.56 am.

great to hear the Truma Gas Heater is a great product.Cannot say the same for the Truma Ultra rapid hot water system.Had 3 units in 5 year old van.at about $850 each it works out quite expensive.

G'day Doug,
Will be in touch next week, I hope. The 7 degrees in Rocky the past two days is sorting out those who came north to escape the south. Eight in Townsville? It hasn't been that low for a few years.

I have the same unit and it's been fine for two years, but interested to hear what your problems were...

Also experienced once where the gas flow was insufficient & found that by pouring boiling water over the gas regulator fixed the problem immediately. Replaced the regulator the next day as it is only a temporary fix, but handy on those cold nights for the gas heater.

Yep mine is 10 years old and going well. Used pretty often in the back blocks. Last year it was below freezing if away from the coast on the way to Queensland.
