Let's wait the usual 3 yr min to see if these things actually make it to full production and used by any electric vehicle maker or power storage company.
A lot of nonsense false information in the spiel:
conventional lithium batteries do not use silicon in there manufacture
dendrite only builds up in poorly treated or poor quality batteries
The life cycle of lithium cells is misrepresented, they can be simply reconditioned and reused rather than scrapped. The genuine cycle life of a quality LYP cell is as yet unknown, we have quite a few system out on the road 24/7 that are now in their 9th yr of operation and at the 8yr service returned a 100% capacity when tested at the 50 amps per 100Ah capacity used by the manufacturer.

The life cycle of any battery relies on it being treated properly and that includes the way they are charged and discharged, the battery management system, this is the thing that leads to dendrite formation and early cell failure ... but catching on fire ..... only certain lithium chemistries catch fire, not all lithium chemistries.
Poor battery management systems cause early cell failure as does poorly made cells. So many "lithium experts" with many yrs of experience suddenly appearing, yet 2 yrs ago the same technology was the devils spawn ..... it they really had the experience 2 yrs ago they wouldn't have been silent when the "experts" were saying they were a fad that wouldn't last .....

Yes, sadly the Aquion salt water battery suffered that fate. Yet to see if it rises from the ashes, not suitable for an RV battery but brilliant for house storage use.
