Motorhome with water damage

Hi, I have been trying to get down to melb to view a motorhome, just got an email they have dropped the price by 30k because the walls have water damage, wondering if the body is fibreglass has anyone had any experience with costs related to refibreglassing a motorhome please? Thanks in advance for any information or advice.

It is a 2007 sunliner pinto, apparentlywater damage on walls, but guessing the leaks could have brought water in anywhere? Thye have dropped price to $35k it only has 27000km on the clock. I gather it has not been used much and is now a decesed estate or owner has gone into care, not sure as I didn't want to ask personal questions. I haven't physically seen it yet only photos, it looks very tidy.

 How much is it?

Don't worry about the $35k "savings".

Sorry misread your post....the price is $35k.

07 Sunliner Pinto would sell for around $65 retail in todays market.

Allow $25k for water damage subject to viewing.

So $35k sounds ok but look closely and carefully.

Thank you for the advice, sounds like it could be a major, will just have to keep looking. Because of where I am located it wuld possibly not b easy to find someone to repair.

The Ibis caravan park at Kerang, stayed there with a group from the caravanner forum yrs ago, just after the flood. Never seen so many mossies under the awning in my life, but killed the lot of ém with one of those tennis racket fly zappers, had a great time
As far as the water leaks, most likely solar panels mounted using self tapping screws through the roof. Depends how severe the water damage is, replacing inside wall panelling isn't that hard but if the damage is severe then there could be a timber frame inside the walls that is damaged as well, that gets a lot harder to fix.

I think the cabinet makers next door to our workshop could repair that sort of thing at quite a realistic price, caravan repairers sometimes get a bit carried away when it comes to pricing water damage to either cover the worst case scenario or catch up on ones they under quoted

Thanks T1Terry for teh advice, yes there would hav ebeen a lot of mozzies due to the flood waters, that was back in 2011? Lots has been done to the park but basically the same set up except a few less van sites now. We also have a fenced doggy off leash area now. If you come through one day let me know you are on this forum.

Not always, but that should be at the top of the mind when looking at the extent of the damage. Back in 2015 I bought a 2008 Toyota Prius ex Brisbane taxi for $1950 on Gumtree, had 700,000km on the clock and unregistered. It is still going strong 30,000km later and the distinctive orange enamel spray job makes it easy to spot in a car park and no body parks it in or cuts it off on the road wink  Sometimes there are bargains to be had because everyone uses the "too good to be true" adage when they see the low price and rough condition.

Buying it with KNOWN damage is not so bad with discounted price
. Its if you buy and then find out its rebuilt or still has damage ! Actually if its been rebuilt properly? Chances are it is better than new ? Depends if its asthetics or actual damage to frame .

Again it depends if its just asthetics or chassis / frame damage ? Could be like a water mark on our money ?
