Never heard of them, good or bad.

Did a quick search & found this.

Not sure of its' validity either.

Can't help you with the Hymer question but again a google search might be worthwhile.

Good luck

edit ...

I had a closer look at the link above & found this very worrying post

These are BRANDS. To get specific information like fuel consumption, you need to be specific about the model and age, at least.

Cheers,

Peter

Hymer is an German manufacturer of high quality motorhomes. They produce for the European left hand drive market and as such the habitation door is always on our driver's side. Not ideal as your awning is always looking directly into your neighbour's awning when in a caravan park. Resale value I am told is affected as a result. All that I have read suggests they are well built. If you want more info on Hymer Google Erwin Hymer.

It is not legal to sell a motorhome or caravan in Australia with the door on the right hand side, so it would have been built with a LH door (as many are) or subsequently converted.

Peter

Interested in your comments Graham. I have a fwd Fiat Ducato MH now 5 years old with 75000 Klms and has been uterly reliable. Have you had a bad experience with a FWD motorhome?

Peter, I was of the same opinion as you re registration limitation re o/s door location however there are several older model Hymers for sale on the usual sites all with the Euro door config?

Do an internet search for "lemon caravans" and you'll find a group that is dedicated to stories of problems with caravans and RVs etc. The site is searchable by dealer/manufacturer. It was invaluable before I bought - ruling out both of my initial choices and forcing me into a complete review of my needs.

As I said, unless they also have a LH door, they are not legal to sell, or even GIVE AWAY, unless they comply with all Australian regulations and that includes all 240V wiring and appliances and gas and appliances and have compliance certificates.

Cheers,

Peter
