We have a wifi aerial and modem to boost weak signal to a stronger signal. It works well, often giving us an additional bar in signal strength or moves us from 3g to 4g. In order to set it up we need to know where the closest tower is. Trial and error works but a website called OzTowers lists all towers in our area and rates if they are Telstra Optus etc. Sadley this site is no longer available so I am wondering if anyone out there has an alternative website or maybe an Iphone capatable app that works.
I have an app on my Samsung tablet (Aus Phone Tower) but this is not compatable with Iphone.
You can use the Radio Frequency National Site Archive (RFNSA) to search for Australian Mobile Network base stations to find Electromagnetic Energy (EME) Reports, site locations, carrier contact details for existing sites and community consultation information for new sites.

The irony is that the RFNSA web site was the source for OzTowers' data. The reason that OzTowers went offline was because the RFNSA put a stop to "screen scraping".
