Just like to ask all you learned travelers with some better knowledge on travel months, so there are three of us all retired each with our own vans, we are trying to make arrangements to start a trip over to W.A.
So, whats the best time weather wise to leave Sunshine Coast, make our way to Mt Isa & then head for the Kimberly region before across to Broome, neither of us like the really cold weather but one couple want to leave in mid May, one couple want to leave second week of June, we have covered Qld a few times over the years, so no real need to spend too much time getting to Mt Isa.
Your recommendations would help solve our little issue.
Mid winter at the Isa can be a very cold and frozen place - We always go across the Savannah Hgw over to Katherine, Lake Argyle, Broome etc and then down west coast as far as Albany then go East over the Nullarbor and back home - Normally leave home in Mid May.

depends how far south in WA you want to go - can be very cold and windy June to Sept down south. Darwin can still be hot in April - Broome to Perth should be lovely late March, April and May which is also the best time to be around Albany and Esperance.

The Kimberley (and all the tropical north) can still be wet until May at least. By September it can be too hot. In between is the best time up north.

Just received a message from the PCYC Broome, that they are closing down & will not be taking any Overflow vans next year ! leaving it open for caravan parks charging $75 to $80 per night, does a little electricity & water really cost that much ? yep i know they have overheads, but really, it's a joke.
Hi TheHeaths,
Yep, but that was the suggested price given to me last week by a park reception, maybe she was just making assumptions. Anyway, checked a couple of places just a few K's out of town center, much more reasonable cost.
