AGM batteries

Just a quick question,we have put our van in storage,it as 480watts of solar on the roof and 2 X 120 amphr batteries.Do I just leave the batteries ticking over or should I leave say the radio on all the time .Thanks in advance

Safe travels everyone

If the van will get some sun, just let the solar keep the batteries full.
No point in leaving anything turned on.
Cheers,
Peter

In fact you should make every effort to disconnect ALL possible loads and just leave the solar connected. Reason is if the solar fails, your batteries have a good chance of surviving. Leave a radio on and they will be flat in a week. In Cusco, I left the truck for 8 months with bidirectional split charging to keep all batteries full from the solar. A glass fuse inside the solar controller had failed because of a cold solder joint and when we returned, all 6 batteries were way lower than safe.

Collyn Rivers used to recommend fully charging AGMs and then completely disconnecting them and said they would be fine for at least 6 months. If leaving them on charge, another recommendation was to reduce the float voltage by 0.4V

I would support what Tony says.
