We cut a tiny tiny hole in a piece of paper, place the paper on the skin with the tick poking through. Then briefly spray with some freeze spray from Jaycar.
The paper helps prevent freeze burning. We do pull out the tick after bwith some very fine nosed Swiss made tweezers. Also use a 10x Lupe scale magnifier to clearly see the tick.
Last year we had about 20 very fine ticks. Year before about 10 tiny ticks. Some get in some interesting places!
We have a few more of the Rubis tweezers for splinters, square end & angled etc, which we bought in Germany years ago. They are very expensive but they are really nicely made.

I would suggest using a skin tag remover from the chemist rather then a can electronic freezing spray as the tag remover has an applicator attached, I was doing a Pain Management Course and noticed an irritation around my neck, fellow students couldn't make out what it was so I was directed to the Nurse she was in her mid 50's she didn't know what it was had never seen a tick before, born and raised in Newcastle.
