I am in the process of giving the van a good clean out and have an issue with those hideous black plastic window openers you have to slide before you wind out the window.
Past experience has taught me that if you put any pressure on the little b*ggers, they just snap off at the base leaving the turning part in your hand whilst the base remains on the window.
Is there any way of freeing these up so that does not happen and I can slide them easily to open the windows.
I am sure others have had this problem. Why don't they put something more sturdy on the windows so this does not happen. I know, so they can sell me more of them when I bust these.
Made by Australite Windows. They are crap. Been that way for 4 or 5 decades, maybe more.
Maybe try a little bit of lanoline as a lubricant (it can be washed off later and won't harm the plastic.
Cheers,
Peter
My understanding is that if the window is not wound in fully it makes it harder to Lock/unlock, ie one bottom side may be touching the van, ie. easier lock than the other side, slightly out.
Can adjust the gap by trial and error using the rod etc at the top of the window.
