Snap my wife had restless legs, cured it and a couple of other things by taking Magnesium. Be careful because it has different effects with different people. You may find it cures your restless legs only when your running to the toilet

Quinate (Quinine/sulphate) used to be prescribed but it has come out of favour because of it's tendency to allow "Bruising" of skin by thinning blood. Drinking tonic water is an approved way to get quinine into the circulatory system in small amounts. Quinine is still available by prescription, but there are many safer alternatives for the treatment of leg cramps, including magnesium, stretching, and vitamin E, that should be exhausted before turning to this risky medication. The only approved medicinal use of quinine is for the treatment of malaria.
You could try taking two paracetamol (Panamax) tablets before retiring of a night. It works for me since Quinate no longer prescribed.

Quite true but worthwhile trying magnesium as it may assist and better than the alternatives if it does. Not an instant fix as it takes awhile to build up in your body
I have really severe restless legs i have tried all the above none worked for me i used restless legs relief when i relax in early evening plus at night i take Sifrol they work for me
Snap1046 Have you tried magnesium oil? You obtain it from the chemist, spray it on and rub it in. This has the properties of magnesuim but they think the action of the massage , when rubbing it in also helps. Good Luck :)
If the action of massage maybe working-- warm hydrotherapy pools might help, late afternoon,if available.I used them for lots of things Inc losing weight,& 1/2 vd my appetite too
