Got this in my mail from Couplemate this morning and I thought it may be of interest to some with brake problems.
It doesn't appear as though I can insert a live link but here it is for those that are interested: https://www.couplemate.com.au/jayco-and-electric-brake-problems
BTW ... when I replaced my brakes & bearings on the Westport, I purchased all my stuff from 'Couplemate' I found them to be great to deal with and reasonably priced along with lots of useful information.
Golly gosh, we have a Silverline, and been down some steep inclines. But I use the brakes as little as possible. But use low gear in the tug,
Yep, me too. That's probably why the orig brakes lasted for 200,000 km & still had plenty of meat left on the shoes. A couple of drums were badly scoured & two magnets were stuffed. I probably broke one of them .... One wire broken at the magnet.
Cupie, one of the first jobs I did on the van was to re-route the brake wiring at the brake assembly, and protect the cabling and plugs/sockets from stone damage with convoluted tubing. I like the idea of chaging the polarity on the magnets at long intervals.
very interesting article.
