We Have an IBIS 4 aircon installed on our HillTop Feathertop Van which in itself is is a major upgrade from a no toilet REGAL pop-top.
When the wife bought the van yes she did! I asked for an upgrade from the Ibis 3 to the Ibis 4 air conditioner because I knew it was using an energy saving inverter.
And here we are on Covid lockdown prepping for an escape.
So I put my Aldi Bahn energy meter on the power lead and started the aircon in heating mode the other day.
And that showed the wattage slowing ramping up to 1400 Watts ( under 6 Amps) after several minutes. This means my el cheap 1700 watt er will most likely work.
Anyway ill try the gennie when I am bored.....

Make sure no other 240v appliance is on at same time as aircon, including 240v charger and hot water heater. One 240v appliance at a time. Especially running Gennie.

in my case the inverter is actually part of the Ibis IV aircon and reduces both the startup and running load of the unit. Hence your question if I was running a separate inverter would be spot on but in this case I am hoping to plug the gennie directly into the van.
And the question of RCD versus RVD then needs to be addressed.
As you Know most van air cons were/are 20 years behind the inverter split systems we all use at home.
It is only in past year or two that some van aircons have caught up , even though well overpriced.
Or alternatively you could put a home split on the van, as people on this and other forums have done.
