Imagining Esperance, Coolgardie, Perth, Albany back to Esperance as a "circle", I wish to tour inland within this circle from September this year. I have done the coast road as part of the big lap a couple of years ago and also visited Wave Rock as a day trip during the big lap so have seen that area. So any recommendations of what to see and do inland within this "circle" would be greatly appreciated. Also recommendations to see the wildflowers in and around this time.

2018 we did a good portion of the circle but when we got to Perth it rained & effectively drove back to Sydney, via Wave Rock.
Last year we Drove to Perth to do the SW corner which we missed, we did the whole road along the coast all the way to Poison Creek. Drove a bit up Balladonia Road but turned around as the road was extremely potholed & overgrown. Back west, then north & then east via Great Central Road.
While on the ocean road we went inland to a few places, walked up Bluff Knoll, Porongurup lookout. Walked to Whale Bone Beach from the main campground at Hamersley Inlet which is very good. We had no plan as such. Good camping at Starvation Bay & another camp about 8km west of there where we stayed a night. The 2 beaches at Two People Bay worth a look & walk to the second beach.

Before you reach Coolgardie, you could turn off towards Kambalda, which has a free camp
From Kambalda, you could go through Kalgoorlie, which also has a free camp
In Kalgoorlie, you could look at the super-pit, a big hole in the ground
On the way to Perth, there is a nice donation camp at Meckering, where the locals appreciate your patronage
Also on the way to Perth, you could turn off and see York
York has a lot of old buildings, a free camp with the first three or four travellers, having access to free electricity
Periodically, there is usually something going on at York, like vintage motorbikes/cars/trucks etc
There is also a confectionery shop, with enough lolly's to make a grown man dribble
As Kulin has already been mentioned, there is a free camp, and also a caravan park, where the traveller pays, what they think it was worth
Pemberton, Nannup areas are worth a few days in the tall timber country. Lots of pretty areas around there.
Augusta on the very southwest tip is a great little village.
Around Perth there is quite a bit to see particularly in the hills and the swan valley.
Quite a bit around the Esperance region. Hopetown is nice as well and is on the eastern border of the Fitzgerald National Park. Bremer Bay as well.
Agree, Nannup & Pemberton & that area is really nice. We just happened to be in Nannup on their floral weekend. Costa for Gardening Australia did a talk.
There is a nice camp ground at Wellington Dam & very friendly birds (Twenty Eight, said in French it sounds like 28) but I could see this place would be packed in school holidays. We came in from the south & there is a lookout & history display about the dam. Camping is a bit further north. Replenish supplies at Collie if you go out the north direction.

Max Wellstead's museum 440 Wellstead road Bremer Bay phone 08 9837 4042 was the best I have seen but that was 13 years ago. there was Westfarmer museum at Yarloop, I believe it was burnt down but I hope it was rebuilt. b
Agree with all of the above recommendations - there is just so much to see and do in that south western corner of WA other than Margaret River Particularly the Maritime museums, lighthouses, whaling history. etc. Visitor centre is a must to get all the brochures and maps.

Yes must get back there . A few years ago we cruised around there . But it started to rain . We turned right to north . Wish we stayed lo get now !! Getting ready for another trip . Once C19 is over !! May do it other way ? From
