As seen on the What did you do today section of this Forum, I recently had our Coolmatic HDC 190 12v Fridge repaired, thankfully it could be as that saved us some $2000.00
All is well but I had a near miss as follows.
After removal of the double sided sealing tape to seal the void in which the fridge sits and the air in the van itself, I used Eucalyptus Oil, Tea Tree Oil and meths to provide a good clean new surface to attach the new lot of sealing tape before re-setting the fridge in place.
I carelessly just put the paper towel used to wipe the oils, into the freezer compartment as I worked so as to pick up all and bin them when finished.
Now I already knew NOT to use any Citrus Oil based stuff on fridge and other plastics as it would immediately start to eat into or dissolve the plastics, but I did not think this would happen with the oils I was using - DERR!
However the Eucalyptus and Tea Tree oils also started to eat into the freezer base. So with some careful use of wet rub to grades 600 grit and then polish (tooth paste) I have saved the day.
Lesson learned - Phew.

I slowly realise as I get older that I am definitely NOT the fastest rat in the race.
Also the older I get the more I realise I do not know.
Also when van is in storage etc, just make sure you use the local newspaper pages and place them on the shelves and in the freezer compartment. You canthen close the fridge doors and you will not experience and Mould or sever marks.
